While our ingredient database is one of the most comprehensive ones available, we understand that it is not possible for us to supply every ingredient in existence. Because of this, we have provided a feature that allows users to use their own custom ingredients.
Anything can be made into a custom ingredient. You simply need to know the following information:
- The name
- The reference quantity: this is the amount of the ingredient that the nutritional information you have refers to. For example, if you are reading the nutritional information from the ingredient's nutritional label, the reference quantity would be the serving size.
- The actual quantity: this is the quantity which is actually used in the recipe you are constructing.
- Fat (in grams): if you are using the information from a nutrition label, use the "Total Fat" line.
- Protein (in grams)
- Carbs (in grams): if you are using the information from a nutrition label, use the "Total Carbohydrate" line.
- Calories
- Cholesterol (in milligrams)
- Sodium (in milligrams)
After you enter the appropriate information, use the 'Add Custom Ingredient' button to add the ingredient to your recipe. You may come back and edit the ingredient data at any time by clicking on the ingredient in the item editor.
